Vukovar to Host Prominent Figures from the World of Business and Entrepreneurship this May
This May, Vukovar will become the center of economic activities as it hosts the Vukovar Business Forum – Meeting G2.12 from May 21st to 23rd. This international conference brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from Croatia and abroad.
Mayor Marijan Pavliček emphasized that even in its first edition, the event holds significant importance for eastern Croatia. “During those days, Vukovar will be a hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, new ideas, and technologies. Although the forum is being held for the first time, it is the largest economic conference in eastern Croatia,” Pavliček stated. He added that the forum aims to showcase all the benefits the city offers to entrepreneurs – from legal incentives to concrete measures for stimulating employment and investment. He particularly highlighted labor market trends: “Today, Vukovar has the highest employment rate since the end of the peaceful reintegration, and we do not intend to stop there.” “The City of Vukovar is focused on the youth, new jobs, and restoring the industrial strength it once held,” said Mayor Pavliček.
Antun Krešimir Buterin, President of Meeting G2, stressed the importance of connecting homeland Croatia with its diaspora. “Our goal is to bring as many Croats from the diaspora and business people from around the world as possible so they can experience the potential of this region firsthand,” Buterin said. He added that over the past 11 years, they have gathered more than 2,300 participants – Croatian business professionals from 36 countries worldwide. He also noted the powerful symbolism of holding the forum in Vukovar. “For us, Vukovar represents an ideal place of unity – a place where we want to show that Croatia can progress specifically through cooperation with the diaspora,” Buterin emphasized.
Deputy Mayor Filip Sušac pointed out that interest in the forum is already exceeding expectations. “A month before the event, nearly 70% of panelist spots and over 60% of total capacity are filled. Top experts and eminent companies from Croatia and abroad are coming,” Sušac said. He also announced the arrival of prominent names from the business and scientific worlds, with more than 300 participants and about 30 exhibitors expected. The forum will consist of both a conference and a fair section, allowing participants not only to network and exchange knowledge but also to present specific business projects and opportunities. The organizers state that through this event, they want to dispel the common perception that major business events are reserved exclusively for Zagreb or the coast. “Slavonia has much to offer – from its economy to top-tier gastronomy and hospitality,” Sušac concluded.
The press conference also included Boris Podobnik, President of the Association of Glas Poduzetnika (Voice of Entrepreneurs), who expressed support for the event, as well as Ivan Sarić from the Croatian Employers’ Association (HUP), who emphasized that HUP continuously supports initiatives that contribute to economic development.
The Vukovar Business Forum thus carries a powerful message – the city that is a symbol of Croatian history and suffering is now increasingly positioning itself as a city of new opportunities, investments, and development.
